My love of photography
I suppose that I discovered my love of photography around the same time as I began to write fiction.
A friend of mine in Old Greenwich, Connecticut took a look at some of the photos that I brought back from my travels into Tuscany, France, Peru, Morocco, Thailand, and told me that I had "the eye" and that I should share my images to the world.
I was a bit shy about this and withheld but he pushed me once more, and so in the year 2000 I self-published a book which was intended as gifts for my family and friends. Its lead photo was a picture of Ali Allah, a Berber guide in the Sahara who led me into an exploration of the dunes, and the caption I placed underneath this photo was "Walking into the New Millennium".
Which, in the light of the events of September 11th, 2001 that followed, was prophetic. It was especially prophetic for me as I was working in Manhattan at the time and this event, this tragedy, was one of the singular moments in history that altered me completely.
I left the corporate world shortly thereafter and disappeared into France to write my first novel. My camera was ever at my side.

PS, the image above was taken in Marrakesh in October, 2018. I just returned from this trip, my second one into this beautiful country.
